Frequently Asked Questions

About Spa Etiquette

Cell Phones Off, Please.

As a courtesy to all salon and spa guests, we ask that all cell phones and pagers be turned off upon guests’ arrival.

When should I arrive for my treatment?

If this is your first appointment, please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled treatment. You will need to complete a short questionnaire that allows us to gather basic information about yourself and your skin needs.

We suggest to all repeat clients to arrive 5 minutes prior to their scheduled treatment.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever is comfortable. Because most of our treatments include massage of face, neck and shoulders, we provide our female clients with a cloth body wrap for their comfort. Jewelry such as necklace, earrings, bracelets and watches must be removed prior to initiating the treatment.

Do I have to disrobe entirely?

No. You can wear whatever you are comfortable in. Keep in mind that our estheticians are trained to drape towels or sheets discretely over any areas that are not involved in the treatment and to protect your privacy at all times. Men are asked to only remove their shoes, shirt and undershirt, unless the chosen treatment (waxing, body scrub) requires minimum clothing.

Should men shave before a facial treatment?

It’s recommended to shave 4 hours prior to receiving a facial. However, we are trained to perform treatments in the presence of facial hair if you prefer not to shave the day of your appointment.

Should I alert someone if I have any special health considerations?

Be sure to notify us when you make your appointment if you have high blood pressure, allergies, other physical ailments or disabilities, or if you are pregnant.

How old do I have to be to receive any of the services on the menu?

You must be at least 18 years of age to receive any of our services.

All guests under the age of 18 who reserve skin care or waxing services must be accompanied by an adult. The parent or escort is welcome to be in the treatment room while the services are performed.

What if I need to cancel or postpone a reservation?

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible. We will be happy to reschedule it to a day and time of your convenience, depending on availability.

About Chemical Peels and Microdermabrasion:

Why would I choose a chemical peel?

As a deep exfoliation treatment, a peel is selected to remove the topmost layer of the skin to even out your skin tone, minimize fine lines and wrinkles, revealing younger, smoother looking skin. A peel can be done on the entire face or on specific areas only. It can also be performed on arms, hands and chest to gradually treat sun-damaged skin. Recovery time depends on the strength of the peel. It could take one to seven days.

How long is a chemical peel procedure?

It could take up to one hour. All of our chemical peel sessions include a facial prior to applying the peel to maximize results.

What will I experience in the days following a chemical peel?

The lighter the peel, the less the effects will be. Following a Glycolic Acid peel your skin will most likely look a bit red, similar to mild sunburn, for a couple of days. Stronger peels, such as Jessner Peel or TCA Peel, are followed by crusting, which could last up to 10 days. You will be given clear and easy-to-follow instructions for home care procedures after your chemical peel. Your esthetician will help you select the proper products to take home to care for your skin during the peeling process.

Why would I choose Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is perfect for anyone who wants to improve skin appearance and reverse the signs of aging without the irritation and redness that often occur with other treatments. Microdermabrasion is very effective in treating sun-damaged and aging skin. It can also be used in the treatment of acne, pigmentation caused by acne scars and some age spots.

How does Microdermabrasion work?

It removes the dull, lifeless and damaged epidermis by “sandblasting” the skin with Aluminum Oxide Crystals. Microdermabrasion helps speed up skin cell turnover, emulating the body’s natural way to repair the skin and stimulate collagen production. It is the safest, most effective method available for skin exfoliation, wrinkle reduction and pigment correction.

Is one session of Microdermabrasion enough to correct these skin problems?

Depending on each person and the nature of the skin condition to address, it could take from two to several sessions, once every two weeks. A series of six sessions is recommended to achieve dramatic, long lasting results.

Can Chemical Peels and Microdermabrasion be combined for better results?

Yes, both procedures can be combined in one session. Microdermabrasion is performed first to exfoliate the skin. This enables deeper penetration of the chemical solution for a more effective peel. Please consult our skin care professionals to find out if you are an ideal candidate for this procedure and to determine special pricing.

While Chemical Peels and Microdermabrasion procedures are extremely safe and excellent anti-aging alternatives, a preliminary consultation to help you choose the right course of action is advised.
